I have just read a collection of Al Capp's "Li'l Abner" Sunday strips, which I consider a valuable body of art, and now I turn to these, art which Capp would never have appreciated. He found all art which was not strictly representational to be totally incomprehensible, and presumed that it was all just a hoax.

Capp's hostility to the "official" art world was, of course, spurred in part by the fact that his own work, the result of immense effort in a highly competitive field, was scorned as popular trash.

I am grateful for being able to appreciate both artists.

These little babes are also spurned by the art world since they grow out of mail art. Only recently I found a gallery who sells them and I found the gallery by giving them away as business cards, a little twist on mail art gifting. Now I'm looking for another gallery since I'm now at a mature point where the difference between giving them to mail artists and giving them in exchange for a few bucks is not an important distinction. The main thing is to grow and learn through drawing and painting. When people respond to them it's really fun, especially when someone such as yourself draws fascinating comparisons. In fact, John my friend and thoughtful critic, I'm sending you one in the next mail.

Beautiful lines and colors - they look gorgeous even on my crummy LCD screen!
