present tense and archives

I just got home from my writing class. After class I asked my teacher, Dominic from Australia, if I could use the present tense in my dissertation and he said of course and that I should use it if I'm talking about the present investigation, art or literature. Today I spent an hour with editor Kimberly in the LSC going over Geert's essay. She really wanted to do the present tense and so we did. I have to write and add a big paragraph about John Held Jr and Judith Hoffberg as librarians who have archives in the collections of research institutions and how the archives got there.
