Double Depping

Johnny Depp takes a lot of naps on the couch in Secret Window, a film based on a story by Stephen King and with music by none other than Philip Glass. It should have been more of an opera, stylized to the hilt with Depp King and Glass. Instead it was set in an Eddie Bauer catalog and got blah reviews by most critics. The only good reviews were by Depp fans, and sure enough, by far the best part of the film is when they double Depped and more than one Johnny acts in concert.

I just got a call and now have two interviews lined up, one on the 7th and one on the 12th. One in the desert, one near the coast. One techie and one foundationy. My life is crossroading and I have no idea where it will take me. But positive energy is coming in and my birthday nasturtiums are budding. So back to the powerpoint.

flowers and water

Z practiced plein air painting at the Japnese Gardens today. It was sunny and breezy. She didn't even notice the people who traipsed by. She was very focused and not nervous painting in public at all. She'll do just fine in Italy. She painted red flowers cascading over a lily padded pond. We had a great time. She's moving in the direction of Arthur Dove and getting bolder with her composition.

She also gave me some advice for my upcoming interview. She suggested that I start off my presentation with questions instead of leaving questions til the end. I will have an installation of my work, my data (mail art) and some opera stuff in the room that should spur questions. Also Pedro Pescador, a mail artist who lives there will be coming to the presentation. It's simultaneously an Obscure Action and Congresso '04.
