Amazing First Day Drawings

The Gesture class from last semester recommended starting the new semester with a review of light logic. So I combined an art supply challenge with black paper, and look what happened. These are such strong first day drawings I'm really excited to see what will happen next.

The day's theme in anatomy was a review of light logic as well as the intro to proportion based on the skeleton. I challenged the anatomy class to draw the skeleton on manilla paper concentrating on light logic and value as well as proportion.

Then we had a discussion on the range of values, negative space in skeletal drawings, and what makes something scary. I used my tai chi sword in this set up.
