Zap! both my jobs were in sudden hiatus.
I immediately declared it International Arthur Dove Day, packed my paints and an Arthur Dove book and went to the botanical gardens. But first I stopped by the art supply store and wished them happy arthur dove day and picked up some dovish art supplies. The lady behind the counter said, "I didn't know it was Arthur Dove Day," and I said, "Well, it is!" I'm not that pleased with the paintings, but I am pleased with having painted in the sun. The Dove day's droppings can turn into Leaves of Grass collages.
I used the new creatacolor aquarelle blocks with some gum arabic water. It was interesting to shift the dynamics of the pure water diffusion.
Did you know that Arthur Dove drew with both hands at once? Then I stopped by the book store to see if they had another Arthur Dove book and they ordered a retrospective catalog which had a reasonable price tag. If I don't like it I don't have to buy it. Ordering is a way to see the book, something you can't do online. There are a number of rare Arthur Dove books through Amazon but they are really expensive.
Then I went to the coffee house for a mojito limeade and got connected back to AIO and did some work in my new color theory classroom setting up the later weeks and encouraging the new students in their first course interactions.
