A student's father sent him a box of old books. In the box was a book on Russian Suprematism. The student fell in love. The big fat old book full of color plates of Russian abstract art is amazing. The student decided to focus his designs and drawings around this art movement. I encourage students to use their personal excitements in their drawings and designs. The internal motivation of Russian Suprematism is strong in this student and he is using Suprematism to question and achieve the competencies of the classes such as light logic. He sees the light logic in Suprematists' portraits and wants to abstract seen light patterns into abstractions. He also researched the use of oil pastel by the Russian artists and will be working in that medium as well as paint on canvas.
