The last gesture class was amazing. I’m going to miss those students and my very fine models. We did a gesture drawing version of my How To exercise. Students first did warm up drawings — variations of some gestures by Ryan Woodward - amazing gesture artist and animator. One of those drawings becomes the illustration for the next step. Next they write a “How To do a Gesture Drawing” (title) as a set of 5 steps using action verbs. Next they exhibit them. Next they choose to read the instructions of a fellow student in the style of slam poetry. We all snap our fingers. It was so much fun. And that my friends was our final written exam. Then the model came and we drew Dennis as a pirate and Dennis in his pharaoh hat being attacked by snakes. I love my job.
